This summer has proven itself to be one of the ultimate worst for love - it's not even the end of August yet and it seems that we have been unbearably swamped with cruel cheating allegations, crumbling relationships and shattered marriages.

The situation is reaching breaking point - we've had Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick wave love goodbye, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner call it quits, Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani throw in the towel and even (and this one stings the most!) Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy go their separate ways. That's not to mention the rumors that power couples such as Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have had to relentlessly deny!

Indeed, celebrity couples have been dropping like flies and now, it appears that another is heading that way too.

Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green are getting divorced

It's hard believe because it all started off so well! The two met when 90210 alum Brian starred on Megan's ABC sitcom Hope & Faith back in 2004. Back then, Fox, who was only 18-years-old, gushed:

"It was like magic!"

The pair seemed head-over-heels in love and despite calling off their initial engagement in 2009, Megan married Brian, who is 13 years her senior, in June 2010. It seemed that finally everything was back on track and, recalling the wedding ceremony, Megan's husband couldn't hold back his joy:

“I've never been more sure of anything in my life [...] It was the absolute perfect start to what we hope will be an amazing life together."

And in 2012, Megan continued to share the same sentiments:

"I truly feel like he's my soul mate [...] I don't want to sound corny or cliché, but I do believe we are destined to live this part of our lives together."

But now, five years after saying their "I Do's," the Transformers goddess feels differently. After 11 years together and two children down the line, Noah and Bodhi, it seems that married life is simply not working out for them.

What went wrong?

Despite the official announcement this August, it seems that for the two actors, there has been troubling brewing in paradise for quite some time.

The couple hadn't been seen in public since December 2014 when they attended the Night of Generosity Gala to support clean water in developing countries. And just before that, in August 2014, Fox sent alarm bells ringing when she joked that at home:

"Brian doesn't get any intimacy whatsoever."

While they both laughed off the issue as being a simple clash of schedules, it's now been made crystal clear that Megan and Brian see their futures very differently and both want different things. Whereas she's very career-orientated these days, starring in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Brian prefers to spend more time with the kids in Beverly Hills.

So, is a difference of interests the reason behind the breakdown of their marriage? Perhaps, but while no official statement has been released, we can only speculate.

At least we know that they have chosen to remain on friendly terms for the sake of the kids.
