Is A RED Television Series In the Works?
NBC apparently is developing the film RED into an hour-long series.
Jon Hoeber (Battleship) and Erich Hoeber (Whiteout), who write both RED films will write the series and will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Salt) and Mark Vahradian (Man On A Ledge).
The series will focus on the RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous) agents and "will be set in a more grounded and authentic world, focusing on the characters’ darkly hilarious struggles to survive civilian life as they simultaneously fight for and against the very organization that threw them out."
The 2010 movie, which was adapted from Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's comic book, starred Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren and Karl Urban and made a massive $200 million worldwide at the box office.
In 2013, the less popular RED 2 was released, adding Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins to the already stellar cast.
It's highly doubtful any of the original cast will appear in the TV show (I have my fingers crossed for Helen Mirren!) but no official news on cast or when it will air has been announced as of yet.
