Michael Shannon who played General Zod in 2013's Man Of Steel was spotted in a body bag in the trailer for the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice after rumors of his character appearing in the film surfaced online. Rumors speculate that the character will be experimented on by Lex Luthor and will be transformed into the character of Doomsday who is said to appear in the film's third act. As of yet there has been no confirmation on these rumors but recently the actor said some interesting things that may back up those rumors.
Michael Shannon said the following about his appearance in the upcoming film:
“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands. So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’”
Beyond that just sounding like a fun time on set, the actor may have let loose something he wasn't supposed to. Why would Zod's hands be flippers? Most likely due to some radical body experimentation. My guess is that this is part of the transformation from Zod to Doomsday if the rumors were to be believed. I don't expect Zod to have actual flippers....I believe that was just Shannon's way of explaining his hand prosthetics.
I'm excited to hear that Michael Shannon is actually involved in the film, I thought he made a great General Zod in Man Of Steel and definitely has more to contribute to the character.
