Last time, I came up with a dream-cast for a live action version of The Emperor's New Groove, and you can go look at it here! What if Disney took another one of their forgotten movies and created a new live action film? Atlantis: The Lost Empire is, I believe, lost in more ways than one. It was a great movie, and I loved it as a child! I wanted to be an archeologist when I grew up, and this movie fueled that dream. This is a movie I would love to see become a live action film!
However, who would play our beloved characters? I have come up with my dream cast of the troop that is to discover the lost city!
Andrew Garfield as Milo Thatch
Who else other than Andrew Garfield could play our nerdy protagonist? His role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker shows us that he is capable of playing the awkward nerd. I would love to see him trying his best to be a good leader. I want to see him handle the turmoils that arise through their mission, and then watch as he falls for the Atlantian princess, Kida.
Zoe Salanda as Kida
Kida is the princess/queen of Atlantis. She is kind, and only wants the best for her people. I think that Zoe Salanda would be perfect for the role as Kida! Her sass that she brought to the Guardians of the Galaxy character, Gamora, would add to her ability to portray Atlantis royalty.
Willem Dafoe as Commander Tiberius Rourke
Who is that guy with the scary face? - My Sister
Willem Dafoe? - Me
Yeah, that's him.
I sat trying to figure out who could play the villain of the story, and this is the conversation that my sister and I had. I decided he was perfect! Entirely creepy, but firm. I think that he could be our Commander Rourke, though he may need to bulk up a little!
Scarlett Johansson as Helga
Who else could play the co-conspirator? That's right, no one other than my favorite actress, Scarlett Johansson! To be Helga, she needs to be cunning and good with a gun. As we get to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Scarlett can definitely pull this sort of character off!
Dwayne Johnson as Doctor Sweet
Huge, but lovable, Dwayne Johnson would nail this character. In the movie, Doctor Sweet is this huge and intimidating guy. However, we found out that there is a reason his name is Sweet! Johnson, despite his incredible size, has played the lovable giant in movies such as The Tooth Fairy and The Game Plan.
Alexandra Shipp as Audrey
Audrey is the tomboy mechanic of the group. In looking for an actress to play Audrey, I came across Alexandra Shipp! She is the actress who is going to be playing the young Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse! I am really excited to see this movie, and now I can't wait to see her in it. If she can be someone like Storm, I have no doubt that she could pull off Audrey.
Andy Serkis as Vincenzo
To be honest, until I watched Avengers: Age of Ultron, I had never witnessed Serkis being human in a movie. He has been Gollum in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit, but his most recent role in the Marvel movie as a black market weapons specialist is what made me decide on him to be Vincenzo. This character is the weapons specialist on the team, so what better role could Serkis portray?
Jonah Hill as Mole
Finally, the creepy and round Mole. Jonah Hill has played his share of weird and awkward characters. He does well at being awkward, and Mole is the most awkward and strange character I have ever watched. However, I think that Jonah Hill could bring this awkwardness in a way that would be tasteful!
I loved the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire. It is a movie that got lost in the midst of the other Disney movies of its time. I would love to see this movie become one that is remade into a live-action film! The action and characters would be fun to see, and it definitely has the potential to be a great movie!
