When it comes to being a successful human, Angelina Jolie ticks all the boxes these days - she's stunningly beautiful, an award-winning actress, a loving mother and a dedicated humanitarian.
But do you know everything there is to know about the wonderful Angie?
Let's find out!
1. She hated being hugged as a child
During an interview, she admitted:
“Growing up, I had a thing about people hugging me, even my mother, I'm holding my breath now just talking about it.”
2. She loves to perform her own stunts
As Lara Croft, she did almost 80% of her own.
3. She aspired to be a funeral director
At 14 years old, she wanted to become that or a model. I guess she picked the latter!
4. She deals with her own public image
Apparently, she's the only actress in Hollywood who deals with her own PR. Jeez, how does she find the time?!
5. She collects knives as a hobby
She once said:
“You’re young, you’re drunk, you’re in bed, you have knives; shit happens.”
She is also apparently a proud owner of a war ax and an African spear.
6. She's a citizen of three continents
She's American by birth, was awarded Cambodian citizenship in honor of her humanitarian work in the country, and is an honorary European citizen due to her recognition of the Bosnian war in her directorial movie. Check out the trailer here:
7. She used to self-harm
As a a young girl struggling to find modeling work, Angelina became very depressed. At the peak of her suicidal depression and drug use, she has revealed that she used to cut herself:
“For some reason, the ritual of having cut myself and feeling the pain, maybe feeling alive, feeling some kind of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me.”
8. She's a licensed pilot
She owns a single-engine Cirrus SR22 aircraft and is reportedly one of the few people who has a spot on Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic adventure. One day she hopes to view our planet Earth from space!
9. She used to own snakes
As a kid, she used to collect reptiles, including 2 snakes and a few lizards. A pretty unusual hobby for a young girl, I must admit...
10. She blocked the searching capabilities of her name at home
Yep, Brad and Angie made it impossible to search their names on Google in their own homes - this is so that their children would define them and their family via their own personal interactions and not what other people were saying about them. Good move!
11. She's an inspiration to us all!
Undergoing a double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer, she shared the news with the world in May 2013 via a New York Times article titled 'My Medical Choice.' Learn more about her journey here, chronicled by ABC News:
