As much news as I try to avoid with the highly anticipated [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158), I can't help but look at a few things. Being a huge Star Wars fan boy, and nerding out HARD ever since the film was announced, I can't help it when it comes to finding out more about the new trilogy and where J.J. is taking us. As we all know Episode VII starts 30 years after Return of the Jedi. There has been a lot of speculation to who our lead character Rey is. It's clear that she is the daughter of either Luke, or Han & Leia. My bet is Han & Leia. If Han and Leia are together why would their daughter be on a desolate planet living by herself? She is a run away. Let me explain, I'm thinking Han & Leia had some sort of separation. One it would make for a very interesting sub-plot, and it makes sense because they are always bickering. And being the scoundrel that Han is, who knows what that scruffy looking nerf herder did. I get the feeling Rey is like her parents, adventurous and a bit rebellious. So, if Rey is their daughter and Han & Leia separated, running away is her only option. It would also bring Han & Leia back together if they were searching the galaxy for her. Again this is all speculation.

Now here's where things get interesting. Kylo Ren, from what rumors suggest is a Sith artifact hunter/collector. From the concept art of him holding Darth Vader's helmet and the shot of it in the second teaser trailer, it seems to be adding up. Rey also seems to like junk as well, living in a broken down AT-AT, she also reminds me of a junk collector. If you remember from the trailer, she is running with Fin and is carrying a staff. A lot of people say that is Darth Plagueis' staff. If you're not familiar with him, he is apart of the expanded universe which isn't canon. But he is mentioned in Episode III, so technically to me, he is canon. And is makes sense if it is his staff because that would introduce Kylo Ren. Being a Sith artifact hunter he would be after such a rare staff wouldn't he? I have a very strong feeling Kylo Ren is Luke's son. From the teaser we can see how powerful Kylo Ren is. And if he is Luke's son, who at this point is the most powerful Jedi of the age, I've heard rumors that he is just as powerful, if not more so than Yoda was. That would make Kylo Ren pretty damn powerful. And if he is the son of Luke, that fits with some more rumors that Luke has a son that turned to the dark side. Here's another thing I've thought of, why would Luke's son turn to the dark side? He's a damaged child. If Luke is in hiding, that means he probably wasn't the best father, or was never around. Which would fit to him being so obsessed with Darth Vader, maybe trying to find out more about his father? Enraged because he was never around? It's interesting to think about.

From the concept art above, there is a scene where Rey fights The Knights of Ren, a rumored Sith cult that Kylo Ren is apart of. Meaning Kylo Ren probably isn't his real name. My guess is he found her looking for the staff, and maybe one of them knows they are related in someway. Since the force is strong in the Skywalker family, they would be able to feel it, right? I wouldn't go as far as to say they are siblings, but what about cousins? It would make sense and could bring Luke back into the mix. I may just be babbling, but does it not make sense, and would it not work? NO. It would absolutely work!

In the poster revealed at D23, Rey and Kylo Ren are standing next to each other. Yes, this could be the separation between light and dark, but why have them next to each other? Rey is in the middle, which suggests to me that she is going to be conflicted at some point in the film. Assumably the struggle between light and dark sides. Fin is on the left, he has been apart of the empire, but wants to see them brought down, he's not going anywhere. If my guess is correct, and Rey and Kylo Ren are related she will have a struggle between sides. Probably by the hand of Kylo Ren.

I just want to make clear that this is opinionated and is in no way true. This is all just speculation I have that I think is interesting. Kylo Ren and Rey could in fact be related. Either siblings themselves or cousins. We won't know until The Force Awakens opens December 18th. Until then my curiosity will kill me.

Do you think Rey & Kylo Ren are related in some way?
