Now that fans are self-aware that the next in entry in the "Halloween" series titled "Halloween Returns" will not only revisit the original film & its sequel but will also be disregarding the sequels that followed, many fans are wondering as to how Dimension Films will approach the major plot points from the first two films to then carry it over into the recalibrated sequel. Here is list of the top 5 plot points that must be answered in the next entry in the "Halloween" series;

5.) Where was Michael Myers after his escape?

For those of you that might confuse this for me pointing out his escape from Smith's Grove I'm actually pointing out his escape after the explosion in the 1981 sequel "Halloween II". At the ending of the "Halloween II" Michael after literally walking away from an explosion eventually falls down only to continue being burned alive. Seeing as how Michael is known to secretly avoid being apprehended by authorities with the exception of his capture in 1989's "Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers", I heavily doubt that he is captured at the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital & instead somehow managed to escape the inferno that occurred at the end of the sequel. The only possible explanation I see for this is that Michael did in fact escaped on went on to go on a killing spree all over Illinois with the authorities following his trail. This was heavily implied in the opening sequence in 1998's "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later" where it shows that Loomis had a map with bullet points scattered at different location showing where Michael has been. The concept of Michael going on a rampage all over Illinois was also shown in the Halloween comic book "Repetition Compulsion" which centered on Dr. Loomis trying to predict where Michael will strike next. Seeing as this is a possible reason this brings me to the next plot point.

4.) How & where was Michael captured?

Probably the biggest plot detail of the upcoming movie is Michael Myers being on death row for the murders that occurred in the first two "Halloween" films. Many fans have been theorizing as to how was Michael captured & where exactly was captured. As mentioned in the last plot point Michael is known to easily slip past authorities throughout the films so it comes as a surprise that in this film, Michael is actually captured & incarcerated. Even though Halloween Returns will disregard the 4-6 & the H20 timelines, that doesn't mean Dimensions won't take some from those sequels and place them in the new film or any future sequels. My theory on this takes an influence from "Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers" & "Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday" where in the new film Sheriff Hunt plans a sting operation to capture or kill Michael by having an undercover woman as bait to lure Michael in which would lead to Michael being shot a numerous amount of times by the HPD as well as a S.W.A.T unit. Seeing as Michael is able to withstand numerous shots, the HPD decides to throw him on death row seeing as that could be the ultimate solution to finally riding Haddonfield of their local "boogeyman". Another theory that would actually be more incredible is that Sheriff Hunt would instead use Laurie Strode with Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role with CGI altering to have her retain the likeness she had in the films as bait to lure Michael. It would be an amazing cameo especially a real treat to fans of the Laurie Strode character that were disappointed with her demise in the opening of 2002's "Halloween: Resurrection". If by chance if his capture is shown through a flashback sequence then it's likely that Brackett instead will be the one planning the sting operation which was a planned concept for "Halloween 9".

3.) What is the fate of Laurie Strode?

For those of you that have seen the 1981 sequel know that our heroine Laurie Strode managed to survive the clutches of her murderous brother thanks to the sacrifice of the film's hero Dr. Sam Loomis. In the "Theatrical Cut" Laurie is wheeled into an ambulance bound to another hospital at an unknown location whereas in the famous "Television Cut" Laurie is wheeled into an ambulance but also with Jimmy who survived his "fall from the explosion" as in the theatrical cut Jimmy slips on a pool of blood after finding Ms. Alves body & later presumably succumbs to his injuries. Regardless of which cut you've seen Laurie survives & goes on to an unknown future & this is one plot point that needs to be heavily featured in the new film. My theory for this is that Laurie believing Michael is in fact dead having watched him burn at the end of "Halloween II" decides to stay in Haddonfield with Jimmy finally at peace until years later Brackett or Hunt tries to warn Laurie that Michael has returned & asks her to be bait to capture Michael. Laurie strongly rejects at first but when Michael ends up killing Jimmy, Laurie decides to aid Brackett or Hunt in capturing Michael. This could be a nice touch especially Michael will be on death row & high chances are that most of the people in the prison watching Michael's execution will be relatives of the Michael's victims in the first two films & Laurie Strode must be one of them having her friends & Jimmy (if HR does feature Jimmy) fall victim to the masked killer. If this does in fact happen expect a lovely cameo from the "Scream Queen" herself in the flesh.

2.) What is the fate of Dr. Sam Loomis?

Again going back to "Halloween II" our hero Dr. Sam Loomis sacrificed his life to save Laurie Strode by igniting an explosion which seemingly killed him as well as Michael. In 1988's "Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers" it was revealed that Loomis survived but at the cost of having a facial scar & Michael also survived but was placed in a coma. Could Dimensions possibly imply in the film that Loomis did in fact survive the explosion? One fan commented on an earlier article of mine that they could play off that Loomis survived but would not appear having been placed in ICU following his injuries sustained in the hospital. This comment influenced for my theory being that Loomis did in fact survive the explosion & is placed under ICU which would lead to the arrival of his son David Loomis. David hearing of the events goes to Haddonfield to see his father but rejects the idea of going in his father's footsteps to track down Michael as it's been his father's life work for 15 years. It's here that later on David is informed that his father has died from his injuries which would be the fuel for David's vengeance to fill in the void for his father & continue his legacy. This would be a nice touch as I said in an earlier article that despite Donald Pleasence is unfortunately not with us anymore, bringing in the character of his son from the comics is the best way to continue the legacy of his father & revive the Loomis name. Seeing as a CGI Pleasence is an option, bringing in David Loomis would be more suitable especially considering the fact he was going to be the main character in the cancelled "Halloween 9" film. If this does happen expect a vengeful psychiatrist ready take his father's mantle & pursue The Shape.

1.) How will Michael's injuries be addressed?

This by far has to be the most important plot point that needs to be answered once "Halloween Returns" hits theaters next year. At the end of "Halloween II" Michael is not only shot in both of his eyes by Laurie Strode but is also set on fire courtesy of Dr. Loomis which results in Michael as you can see above literally walking from an explosion while on fire only to collapse. Although in "Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers" it's shown that Michael was in a coma due to his injuries but didn't even bother addressing how Michael managed to regain his sight. Now that the recalibrated sequel is disregarding all the sequels that followed I can't even begin to imagine how much Dimension has put thought into this as fans aren't just going to roll with Michael in the new film being completely healed & have no absolute explanation for it ( even though the mystery is what makes it interesting). The only logical theory I have for this is that Michael's origin will have to be explained as I'm pretty sure many characters especially law enforcement are going to wonder as to what it is that keeps Michael alive. Of course I don't mean feature him as a kid again but instead rather a historian in Haddonfield explain to a certain character Michael's family & how they were connected to the festival of Samhain. Loomis did explain the festival of Samhain during "Halloween II" but it was never truly extended in the other sequels until 1995's "Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers" where Tommy Doyle explains Samhain & it's connection to Thorn. Whatever Dimension has in store for us regarding this plot point many fans including myself are hoping for the best if they hopefully address these plot lines in the new sequel.

Well that's my list of the 5 plot lines that must be explained in "Halloween Returns". So what did you guys think? Do you agree with the list? Was there a different plot line you thought should have made it to the list? Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
