Okay, I'm just going to say it: Out of all of the Disney Princess tales you could have made I've action, this was not the one to do.
Sure, compared to some of the other live-action tales (Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretal) this is actually fairly well made and you can tell some thought did go into this.
However, Cinderella is such an unlikable character, for me it just got in the way. Throughout the film, she goes on and on about "Being kind and have courage" and yes you should always be kind and yes you should always have courage but damn it STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!
The amount of shit the Step Mother puts Ella (Yep, that's her new name for some reason) is to such an extant you're gagging for the girl to just shout "B*TCH, SAY THAT SH*T AGAIN IMA SMACK YOU IN YO MOUF!"
They don't even give a real reason for Ella to stay with with her. The mother isn't forcing her, she's clearly got friends who would help her but no, let's just give her the back-bone of a jelly-baby.
The special effects are nice, there are some funny moments and if you are a die-hard fan of Cinderella (One of the four of you that exist), it's pretty loyal as far as I remember but it's certainly not something I'd want a little girl to learn from.
Now if you excuse me, my mother is calling me, and I don't want to have to iron my own hands for being late again!
