"I never thought that it'd be so simple but, I found a way, I found a way..."
This was how the theme song to the hit Nickelodeon show Drake and Josh began. It was written and performed by Drake Bell himself who's as talented on the guitar as his character Drake Parker was. This was one of my favourite shows as a kid and I know countless others who share the same sentiment. All these years later, I thought it'd be fun to see where the three lead stars of Drake and Josh have ended up, and whether or not they've found their way.
3) Miranda Cosgrove
Miranda Cosgrove played the role of Megan, the little sister that was always causing trouble and putting her two big brothers in tough spots. Since Drake and Josh, Miranda has worked on a variety of projects. Most notable of these would be the Nick show iCarly in which she was the protagonist. The show ran successfully till 2012. In Hollywood, she voiced Margo in the Despicable Me franchise. She also ventured into music releasing her first and only album, Sparks Fly in 2010 and going on tour for the same. Below is one of her more popular music videos.
Currently, she's set to star in a leading role in NBC's new show, Crowded and apart from a few straight to DVD films, is likely to reprise her role as Margo for Despicable Me 3.
2) Josh Peck
Josh Peck is the only one of the three that I happened to coincidentally catch a glimpse of. He made a cameo in The Big Bang Theory and it was hilarious. For those that haven't seen it, do check it out below.
He's occasionally been popping up on the big screen to with roles in Danny Collins, The Wedding Ringer, Red Dawn and Drillbit Taylor to name a few. Like Miranda Cosgrove, he too has been voicing a beloved character in a well known animated franchise - Eddie from the Ice Age movies. He is also currently the voice of Samuel Jones on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. On the big screen, he has a significant role in upcoming western drama The Timber and plays Charles Bukowski in the James Franco directed biopic, Bukowski.
1) Drake Bell
Drake Bell was arguably the most popular of the three during Drake and Josh's run. Did that translate into an successful career? Drake has been in the news for his personal life as much as his professional life over the last few years. He filed for bankruptcy not too long ago and famously got into Twitter feuds regarding Justin Bieber and more recently, Caitlyn Jenner. Also, he released a few albums but none of them really broke out to establish him as a promising talent in the music industry, even though I personally think he's pretty damn good.
However, all of that aside, Drake's real breakthrough the last few years has been voicing Peter Parker/Spider-Man on the Ultimate Spider-Man show. While I've never watched the show, his performance has been really well received to the point that many fans were vouching for him when it was announced that Marvel would be casting a new Spider-Man. Had it not been important to them to find a younger actor, there's a good chance Drake could have landed the role. It is also ironic since Drake was the lead in the Spider-Man spoof film titled Superhero Movie back in 2008. Apart from that, he's been fairly busy with voice-work and roles in lots of straight to TV/DVD films such as The Nutty Professor, Adventure Planet, A Fairly Odd Summer and many many more.
I've personally gone from being a middle school student to a senior at University in the time that Drake and Josh has ended and still have fond memories of the fun show. There have often been hints and rumour of a reunion but nothing concrete. I for one, would love to see something of the sort happen!
