(Warning - potential SPOILERS for Gotham Season 2 lie below. Tread softly, and all that...)

Now, with the 2015/16 network television season fast approaching - and filming on countless returning shows well underway - it's not all that surprising that a whole bunch of 'first looks' are making their way onto the Internet.

While some come with only the barest minimum of import attached, however, other might tell us a whole lot about the new seasons of their respective shows. A perfect example of that?

Our First Look at Michael Chiklis in Gotham Season 2 Might Just Tell Us To Expect Big Changes...

Y'see, according to EW, it seems that Chiklis' character - Captain Nathaniel Barnes - will be:

"[A] law and order zealot who lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force."

Or, in other words, he's set to be Jim Gordon's dream first.

The only problem? Heroic Hollywood is suggesting that things between Gordon and Barnes aren't set to stay friendly for long:

"The character is said to be a major ally to Ben McKenzie's Detective Jim Gordon, before he eventually becomes a 'powerful enemy'."

Which might just point to this season marking a decisive moment in Jim Gordon's path towards commissioner-dom - with a conflict between him and his captain perhaps teasing a chance for official censure...or promotion.

Whatever happens, though, the arrival of Chiklis - still a TV legend from his days on The Shield - is surely set to give Gotham a healthy dose of additional awesomeness...

What do you reckon, though?
