Ariel might have wanted to be where the people are, but let's be honest, under the sea is where the fun truly lies. If you haven't pretended to be a mermaid when playing in a pool at least once in your life then you either haven't lived or are a liar.

The Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy in Manilla is making all of our childhood dreams come true by teaching students how to be the best mermaids they can be!

For 1,800 pesos, around $40, students of the Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy has been teaching students of all ages how to master the monofin and swim just like Ariel since 2012.

Whether it's in a hotel pool or scuba diving in the ocean, Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy provides a fun, social activity that promotes a healthy lifestyle and helps make cautious swimmers more comfortable in their underwater surroundings.

According to Mirror, one of the school's instructors Arabelle Jiminez states mermaids have more to teach people than just how to flipping their fins to help get them far:

We have this notion that the mermaids are beautiful, are playful, are fun, and adventurous, and graceful. So that is what we want to impart to the kids also.

Well next time I'm in the Philippines I'll be sure to check it out! I've been meaning to try my hand at being a mermaid for a while now, and I think I can finally graduate from my bathtub to an open body of water.
