In 2013, Empire Magazine did an alternate poster competition for J. J. Abrams's second venture into the Star Trek franchise. I was already buzzing with inspiration around this film and had already created this artwork of Benedict Cumberbatch's character, Khan:

"Shall we begin...?"
"Shall we begin...?"

Being quite pleased with this illustration, I thought I could use it in my poster design. With that in mind, I began working on the rest of the poster. I worked on each element separately, starting with the creation of Captain Kirk and Spock:

1/3
1/3
2/3
2/3
3/3
3/3

I discovered this competition quite late, so I had to work quickly to put the rest of the poster together:

"Star Trek: Into Darkness Alternate Poster"
"Star Trek: Into Darkness Alternate Poster"

If I had known about the project sooner I would've loved to have spent more time and put even more hard work into this. Despite that though, I was happy with the outcome and it was great seeing the designs of fellow artists.

I hope you like it too! :)
