The Westboro Baptist Church are pretty hard to miss with the amount of media attention they get. This organisation is an unaffiliated baptist church famous for their hateful messages. They can be found picketing dead soldiers funerals and being hateful to gays - even stooping as low as picketing the funerals of gay people who have been murdered. The signs which they hold always carry shocking messages, such as 'God hates fags' or 'Thank God for dead soldiers'. They pretty much seem to hate everyone so it probably won't surprise you to read that the Foo Fighters are on the WBC hate list too.

Maybe the WBC don't release that the Foo Fighters are a pretty badass band! Like did you hear of the time when Dave Grohl broke his leg onstage but refused stop the party? Instead of giving up or playing from a wheelchair Dave had himself a guitar throne made so that he could carry on with the tour. The band are also known to stand up for what they believe in. So when the Foo Fighters were sat backstage and heard that the WBC were picketing their show outside the venue, the band decided that they couldn't just kick back and do nothing.

Dave let his fans at the show know what inspired him to drown out the protest!

Sometimes you can't just sit there and do nothing. You gotta go out and say what you wanna say. So we did! We said ‘Cool, let’s go out and fucking hang out with them for a bit.

Westboro Baptist Church hilariously found themselves Rickrolled by the band

We figured, you know what, why don’t we just fucking RickRoll their ass? Cause nothing says love like a little Rick Astley in your life, you know what I’m saying? Never gonna give his ass up

The WBC found themselves forced to listen to Rick Astley. Their hateful words were drowned out as the Foo Fighters party cruised by!

Here is the Rick Roll in full swing!

You can see Dave Grohl proudly holding up a sign saying “Keep It Clean,” while the drummer Taylor Hawkins holds the hilarious sign “You Got Rick Roll’d” adding salt to their wound. The protest turned into more of a Rick Astley dance party as the fans joined in with the Foo Fighters prank.

Have a listen to what Dave had to say on stage about the Rick Roll!

The band want their fans to also stand up for what they believe in.

Whilst strumming ''My Hero'' Dave told the fans

I'm going to dedicate this song to all the people who go out and speak their mind, to stand up for what they think is right, because every time we got to stand up in this city in front of them, we do it because we feel like we're standing up for what we think is right

This was the second time Foo Fighters took on the WBC. The First was time was back in 2011!

Foo Fighters first caught the eye of The Westboro Baptist Church when they released a fake gay porno. It was all in the name of viral marketing and took place in a truck stop shower. The scene featured silly trucker costumes whilst the band then suggestively soaped each other up. It was all a fun scenario for the band to promote their Northern America Tour back in 2011. And this is where the 'Keep it clean' sign found its origin!

The church of hatefulness obviously couldn't see the funny side of. And went to picket their show in Kansas City in 2011. When Foo Fighters trolled the trollers they donning some fancy facial hair in the style of that infamous tour promo.

It seems the protesters and the Foo Fighters are locked in a hilarious battle with one another but intelligence will always win over bigoted minds. My guess is WBC will come in for round three when the band plays there next. I wonder what tricks the Foo Fighters have in store for the next Westboro Baptist Church picket!

One of my favorite moments in the battle against this 'church' was when Dumbledore and Galdalf got married opposite it at the rainbow painted Equality House!
