Although we love our horror movies just the way they are, the discerning eye of the horror connoisseur can pick out some quick cameos that make these movies all the more special, and all the more enjoyable.

From the slight nod to the barely recognizable, horror icons have swapped cameo appearances with their esteemed peers for years. Check out 10 of these great cameos below!

1. Hulk Hogan in Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990)

"Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?!"

When the Gremlins threatened to prevent us, along with the theater audience, from seeing the rest of their second movie, Hulk Hogan stood up for all of us, and aren't we thankful he did!

2. Carrie Fisher in Scream 3 (2000)

The original and only Princess Leia makes a hilarious cameo in Scream 3 as a studio secretary... who knows she looks like Carrie Fisher and doesn't like it one bit.

Bonus cameo: Jay and Silent Bob also found their way into Scream 3.

3. Eli Roth in Cabin Fever (2002) & 2001 Maniacs (2005)

The director himself made an appearance in Cabin Fever as a lost hiker with his trusty dog 'Dr. Mambo' and a bag of weed.

He makes another cameo appearance, along with Dr. Mambo, in 2001 Maniacs (which he also produced).

4. Janet Leigh in Halloween H20 (1998)

"We've all had bad things happen to us."

Too right! Janet Leigh was the victim of the now iconic shower scene in Psycho.

5. Wes Craven in Scream (1996)

The director of Scream made his small cameo, and gave a shout out to one of his other iconic creations in one go. In this quick shot, he's seen as a distinctly Freddy Kreuger-looking and disgruntled janitor (also coincidentally named Fred).

6. Johnny Depp in Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)

Johnny Depp appears on TV for one hot second, before being knocked out cold by Freddy. What makes this cameo even more awesome is that one of Johnny Depp's first roles was actually in A Nightmare on Elm Street, where he infamously got sucked into his bed, only to be shot out in a geyser of blood.

7. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright in Land of the Dead (2005)

Big fans of each others' work, George A. Romero decided to sneak Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright into Land of the Dead as two chained up zombies in the carnival-bar room scene.

8. Alice Cooper in Prince of Darkness (1987)

Famed rocker Alice Cooper popped up as a "Street Schizo" to do a bit of murder before disappearing for the rest of the film. You can even hear a snippet from the song - also called 'Prince of Darkness' - he wrote for the film, playing in the background at the beginning of the scene (apologies for the dubbing in this clip!).

9. Takashi Miike in Hostel (2005)

Appearing for a hot second, Miike got his cameo role in Eli Roth's Hostel as, unsurprisingly, a rich man who pays good money to torture people. He is seen leaving the building where those horrible events take place, and even says, “Be careful, you could spend all your money in there."

10. Stephen King in Maximum Overdrive (1986)

None other than the illustrious horror writer Stephen King showed up in Maximum Overdrive as a confused and offended man when the ATM calls him an asshole.
