Ok, not going to lie, I didn't have high hopes for this one. The trailer looked ok, so i figured, why not. Luckily it turned out to actually be better than expected, large in part to Jesse Eisenberg.
He plays a stoner who works at a convenient store. When one night some strange woman comes in, says some gibberish, and then all the sudden he has super powers, able to kill anyone with anything including a spoon? Well that escalated quickly.
His girlfriend sticks by him regardless of how much he screws up, when all the sudden the government wants to eliminate him? Why is the government always stupid enough to try to take someone out who has super powers?!? Ok, maybe no super powers, but hella killing skills.
The cast isn't half bad, we got Bill Pullman (Independence Day)
Topher Grace (That 70's Show, Spiderman 3)
and even John Leguizamo (The Pest, Super Mario Brothers) has a small part in this movie.
This movie is great if you just want to go see some mindless violence and explosions (come on who doesn't like explosions?). They tried to incorporate some back story but i'm not sure it was enough. Maybe that will be fixed if they make a sequel? Here's hoping.
