In general, there isn't really a unified consensus amongst Naughty Dog fans on where to proceed from here. Should we support the continuation of The Last of Us? Should Joel and Ellie star in a sequel? Should Naughty Dog simply leave their masterpiece alone and move along? No one can really agree. We all have our own opinions of what should happen with the idea of The Last of Us 2.

Personally, I think there's room for further exploration into the world that Naughty Dog created for The Last of Us. However, I'm rather adamant on not having Joel and Ellie in the game. Neil Druckmann and his team delivered such a remarkable and ballsy ending, that continuing their story would feel like a copout for me. It would tamper with the perfect conclusion they brought the game to - both emotionally and thematically.

So I'm not opposed to The Last of Us 2, however, I don't think it should become a franchise which charts the lives of Ellie and Joel. Neil Druckmann wanted to explore the notion of a hero. He wanted to explore how far humans are prepared to go for their loved ones and own selfish gains.

The Last of Us 2 vs New Naughty Dog IP On PS4!

The Last of Us beautifully accomplished what it set out to ask its audience. It presented us with a very human character and asked us to look inwards and ask ourselves what we'd do in that situation and whether what he did was "right". The Last of Us is done for me. However...

I'm not opposed to franchises, they generally get worse with films, but Video Games have been lucky to make franchises where even the tenth instalment can better the first. Take a look at [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain](tag:2683985) for instance - it's incredible! However, when it comes to The Last of Us, I'd be totally supportive of Naughty Dog's decision to not make a sequel.

I'd generally take a new IP over a sequel any day. AAA gaming isn't known for its innovations, but when something fresh and exciting is demonstrated, my anticipation for something new frequently trumps the return of a loved franchise (unless it's Metal Gear Solid). Considering that The Last of Us was something that came from nowhere, I'd be more willing to see what other ideas the office of Naughty Dog could conjure up.

But where do you guys stand? If Naughty Dog were to introduce a new IP after the release date of Uncharted 4, how would you feel? Do you want them to get working on The Last of Us 2 straight away? Or does the notion of something unknown excite you more? Let us know where you stand in the comments below Naughty Dog fans!
