[Disney Infinity 3.0](tag:3458183) is just a few days away from release, and we're really excited for what promises to be the best version of the game yet! With Star Wars opening up a whole new world to play in, and a new Toy Box Hub giving gamers even more options, Disney Infinity 3.0 has really pulled out all the stops.
Adding to all the fun you can have battling enemies and building your own worlds, Disney Infinity 3.0 is adding two expansion pack games: Takeover and Speedway. So what can we expect from these exciting new features?
Defend The Toy Box!
Is nowhere safe from the evil Disney villains? In the Takeover game, you have to defeat a slew of baddies who have invaded the Toy Box, and once you've beaten them you can even turn them into your sidekicks. Disney Infinity director Bob Lowe explained to TechnoBuffalo.
"It’s up to you to basically go and rescue the wand and restore normalcy to the Toy Box. We set that up with a story. You go from level to level pursuing all of these villains, ultimately facing off against them, having to defeat them, to ultimately complete the quest."
But you better act fast: in the Toy Box, the villains have the power to create whatever they want! The Takeover expansion pack is priced at $19.99, but it does come free with every pre-order. So what other exciting games does Disney Infinity 3.0 have in store for us?
For me, this is the most exciting part of the Disney Infinity 3.0 expansion packs, but that's just because I love Mario Kart. Which is essentially what Speedway is: you can race in any Disney location you can think of, using exciting new vehicle designs while attacking your fellow Disney characters. As Gameinformer put it...
"If you want to place Han Solo in the Disney World teacup-ride vehicle and fire off missiles at Thor as he speeds by in The Incredibles’ Incredicar on Wreck-it Ralph’s Sugar Rush track, this will be a destination for you."
Oh, and thanks to the Star Wars additions, you can now actually take part in pod races (arguably the best part of The Phantom Menace). Thanks, Disney Infinity!
And it's not merely racing around a track: Bob Lowe assures us that there's far more to Speedway than that.
"You can go in and race. You can do battle races. You can do time trials. You can do grand prixs. The amount of tuning and focus that has gone into this new expansion game I’m very excited about. Driving has been a big part of the Toy Box, our driving mechanics, although it’s always been good, they have become that much better."
They've also fixed the steering bugs from Disney Infinity 2.0 - no longer will you smash into walls because the game couldn't quite keep up with those twists and turns! According to Sumo Digital's Sean Millard, there's now a lot more sensitivity in the driving controls, leaving you free to crush your opponents as you speed towards the finish line!
But don't take our word for it...
