It was just over 10 years ago that the world was saved by the unlikely trio in the Robert Rodriguez directed film The Adventures of Sharkboy And Lavagirl 3-D. In the film we joined Max as he journeyed with Sharkboy (Taylor Lautner) and Lavagirl (Taylor Dooley) to the Planet Drool to save it from the now-evil electrician Mr. Electric (George Lopez). Memory a bit hazy? Watch the trailer to let it all flood back:
Can you believe that movie was released 10 years ago?
A lot has happened since we were introduced to those crazy heroes and villains born from Max's brain, and the stars have certainly grown up and gone on to do some amazing things. But don't take my word for it, check out what the stars of the 2005 film The Adventures of Sharkboy And Lavagirl 3-D are up to these days:
Taylor Lautner as Sharkboy
What he's been up to since: I had no idea that Sharkboy transformed into the wolf-man Jacob in The Twilight Saga! Following Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Lautner also starred in Duck Dodgers, Danny Phantom, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Love. Inc. and He's a Bully, Charlie Brown. Next up was his big role as Jacob Black in Twilight, a role he reprised for the four sequel films. You may have also seen Lautner in My Own Worst Enemy, Valentine's Day, Abduction, Grown Ups 2, Cuckoo and Tracers. He is also due to star in the films Run the Tide and The Ridiculous 6 in the near future.
Taylor Dooley as Lavagirl
What she's been up to since: The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D was Taylor's first on-screen role, and following that she went on to star in Whitepaddy, Apology, Monster Night, an episode of House M.D. and The Alyson Stoner Project, as well as some roles on stage. After taking a break from acting to finish school (graduating with a degree in Psychology), Dooley has recently launched back into film this year. She has three projects currently lined up including Devotion, The Portrait's Secret and horror film Grimmerson Manor.
Cayden Boyd as Max
What he's been up to since: Boyd had starred in a few films prior to Sharkboy and Lavagirl, and following his role as Max went on to star in: Close to Home, Night Stalker, X-Men: The Last Stand, A West Texas Children's Story, Fireflies in the Garden, Past Life, Expecting Amish and Awkward. These days, as well as acting he's also a student at Pepperdine University where he studies business.
George Lopez as Mr. Electric / Tobor / Ice Guardian / Mr. Electricidad
What he's been up to since: This actor, comedian, writer and producer has been extremely busy since 2005 starring in: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Freddie, Tortilla Heaven, George Lopez, Balls of Fury, Henry Poole is Here, Swing Vote, Beverly Hills Chihuahua (and its sequel!), Reno 911! Mr Troop Mom, The Spy Next Door, Valentine's Day, Marmaduke, Rio 1 and 2, The Smurfs 1 and 2, Escape from Planet Earth, Shake It Up! April Apocalypse, Rio, Saint George, School Dance, Spare Parts, Real Husbands of Hollywood and the upcoming Car Dogs.
Jacob Davich as Linus/Minus
What he's been up to since: After Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Davich had roles in both movies and TV series, including Mr. Woodcock, Without a Trace, The Unit, The Virginity Hit, Whitney and Shameless. These days however, Davich has turned his hand to another creative profession: music. The son of Hollywood composer, Martin Davich, Jacob obviously has the passion for music running through his veins. He recently released his debut EP which you can check out over HERE.
Sasha Pieterse as Marissa/Ice Princess
What she's been up to since: Sasha Pieterse's acting career has gone from strength to strength since her film debut in Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Since then she has starred in Wanted, House M.D., The Air I Breathe, Good Luck Chuck, Claire, CSI: Miami, Without a Trace, Heroes: Slow Burn, Heroes, Medium, X-Men: First Class, Geek Charming, G.B.F. Hawaii Five-O and Inherent Vice. However, Pieterse is most well known for her role as Alison DiLaurentis on the series Pretty Little Liars .
