We,ve all seen tons of horror movies, with tons of deaths. Some deaths we could see coming and some we just expected. However, there are some that got us so off guard. With the help of some of the other creators I came up with 10 most surprising deaths. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!
Starting us off is Bill Murray as himself in Zombieland. Having been able to survive the zombie apocalypse by imitating a zombie, Murray meets his demise at the hands of Columbus. Trying to play a joke on Jesse Eisenberg's character gets him shot in the chest. Ending his quick, but hilarious cameo.
What's in the box!? Well it's Gwyneth Paltrow's head. John Doe leads Mills and Somerset to a mysterious box in the middle of nowhere. Inside, his last victim. The head of Mill's pregnant wife Tracy.
After becoming the group leader and movie hero, Michael is bit and stays behind to end his life. Jake Weber's character survives so many close calls and is shockingly bit towards the end of the film. I was shocked to see this very likeable character not survive.
Scatman Crothers played Dick, the head chef of the Overlook Hotel. He shared the same gift as Danny and quickly came to his aid when he received a telepathic message from him. After traveling all the way from Florida to save the family, he is quickly killed after entering the Overlook. Jack swings his axe, hitting Dick in chest. This was surprising, considerin he survives in the book.
This death was hilarious and shocking! Eric Dane who is simply known as Hero is immediately killed after his big and only speech. Coming into the bar all badass, he looks like he has been through hell and is caring the head of a defeated monster. Suddenly he is decapitated, leaving your jaw dropped.
Danielle Panabaker plays the sweet and innocent Jenna in the 2009 Friday the 13th remake. Proving to have what it takes to be a "final girl" and Jared Padalecki's love interest, she unfortunately has an encounter with Jason's machete.
We don't usually see young children killed in horror movies. In 1989, Miko Hughes' character Gage is run down by an 18-wheeler. I couldn't believe what I had seen. Showing only his bloody little shoe.
Duane Jones played Ben in 1968 Night of the Living Dead. He struggles throughout the film to try and keep everyone calm and alive. Ben ends up locking himself in the basement after the farmhouse is overrun with zombies. The next morning he emerges, alive and uninfected, but is shot in the head after some idiot thinks he was a zombie.
Drew Barrymore was listed in the cast of main characters and also appeared on the film's theatrical poster. Seeing her die, viciously, in the first 10 minutes of the film was a huge curveball. It goes to show you can't trust advertising.
Psycho had one of the most shocking deaths in film history. Just like with Scream, Janet Leigh was listed as a main actor of the film and included on the film's poster. She is killed by "Mother" in the incredibly famous shower scene. Alfred Hitchcock demanded that theatre doors be locked and nobody be let in after the film started.
