He's been gracing our big screens for over 30 years and we still can't get enough.

And there are still many things about actor and comedian Jim Carrey that you probably didn't know. So, why not dive right in and brush up on your Jim trivia right here:

1. Jim was forced to quit school at 15 to help support his family

In order to do so, he took a job as a janitor.

2. He was almost Captain Jack Sparrow

Apparently, he turned down the role because he was in Bruce Almighty at the same time, in which was naturally brilliant:

3. He was performing constantly as a kid

Before he left school, he struck a deal with his teacher in the classroom - if he could sit quietly during class, he could perform for his classmates at the end of the session for a few minutes.

4. He earned his first Golden Globe nomination for The Mask

5. He loves to cover iconic rock anthems in his spare time

'Rocket Man' and 'Come Together' are some of his favorites.

6. His daughter Jane was a contestant on American Idol in 2012

Here's her story and audition:

7. Jim wrote letters to Tupac when he was in prison

Tupac had previously said that Carrey was his favorite actor so he wrote letters to the rapper when he was in prison to make him laugh.

8. He used to wear tap dancing shoes to bed when he was little

He has explained that this was because his parents often asked him to perform in the middle of the night:

"I had a sick mom, man. I wanted to make her feel better [...] Basically, I think she laid in bed and took a lot of pain pills. And I wanted to make her feel better. And I used to go in there and do impressions of praying mantises, and weird things, and whatever. I'd bounce off the walls and throw myself down the stairs to make her feel better."

9. His family has a long history of mental illness

Even Jim himself was hooked on anti-depressants for quite some time, but refusing to suffer the same struggles as his father, he found remedy in laughter. It was this that helped him keep positive in difficult times.

10. Kate Winslet terrifies him!

After starring with the British actress in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Jim admitted that Kate really intimidated him. He said:

"I get excited when people I work with scare me [...] I mean, she's just scary talented. An amazing actress. [...] You sometimes don't know what she's doing when you're in the scene with her and then you look at it later and she just knows what's gonna come off."

11. Before he was famous, Jim promised to himself that one day he would cash a $10 million cheque

He did exactly that in 2001.

12. He considers Dumb and Dumber his funniest movie
