After the disappointing news that Half-Life 3 will probably never receive its release date, you'd think we'd be able to move on and accept it. However, it seems that one single source isn't enough to convince a whole lot of gamers out there. Those who've been waiting for Half-Life 3 since Half-Life 2: Episode 2, have been through a whole lot of rumours and various stages of belief.
Therefore, this rather convincing report seems to have dissuaded very few people from the belief that Half-Life 3 will receive its release date. Valve are in a difficult situation with this game and with such hateful acts continuously being perpetrated by rage-induced gamers, you can't blame them for not wanting to release Half-Life 3. Think of the reactions they'd receive if it wasn't the best game of all time!
Why Are We Denying the Half-Life 3 Release Date News?
The impact that this series has left on the gaming community has been remarkable. Half-Life is one of the most respected franchises in the business and everyone would have bought Half-Life 3. After all, this game has become the stuff of legend. The title itself is synonymous with countless memes and endless internet jokes. But it seems like Valve's sequel may permanently remain a legend - understandably, people aren't convinced.
Valve have a reputation for devoting themselves to their fans. They have been by their sides for years - some fans refuse to believe they wouldn't release Half-Life 3. However, we have to remember that Valve have completely transformed since the days of Half-Life, Team Fortress and Counter Strike. They know make close to a billion dollars a year from Steam and micro-transactions from three of their Video Games. Portal 2 sold well, but it will never have the longevity and devotion that DOTA 2, Team Fortress and Counter Strike GO enjoy.
Half-Life 3 is something we all want, therefore it's only natural that we should deny the news that, The Know revealed. Some gamers are constantly on alert to every single move that Valve make, constantly analysing whether the next event they attend will be the moment Half-Life 3 will be announced. It must be so frustrating to believe that this game is coming soon.
The fact that Valve are attending PAX this year already has people speculating about the arrival of Half-Life 3. I'd love to believe that the company will reveal it, however, it all seems extremely unlikely. Half-Life 3 would have been an incredible game in the past. Though perhaps Freeman's time has truly passed and we'll never see a sequel to wrap up the cliffhanger ending that Half-Life 2 delivered.
That's why, if these revelations are indeed true, I'd love to see Valve reveal the story of Half-Life 3. According to the report, the game has been in development for years and the story is already complete. Would you love to get your hands on the story to Half-Life 3, or are you still going to wait for the final product? Let us know where you stand on the news and whether you believe that Half-Life 3 will never receive its release date.
