Universal Orlando announced recently that they will be adding an attraction based on the immensely popular film franchise, Fast and Furious. While this move has been rumored for some time, the announcement caught most off guard and created quite a buzz.

According to Michael DoQui, of the Universal Orlando Resort blog, the attraction will bring us everything we love about the films including the characters and the cars, while still bringing an original storyline to riders. Guests will get to see the headquarters of Dom Toretto and his family and then board specially designed, and likely innovative ride vehicles.

Details regarding what type of ride we might see have yet to be released, but it seems very unlikely that the ride will be anything like the experience offered at Universal Studios Hollywood. In the past there have been rumors of a roller coaster, though it seems probable that this attraction will feature some dark ride elements as well.

In order to make room for the exciting new attraction, Universal will be closing Disaster: A Major Motion Picture Starring You! and Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue, both of which are classic Universal attractions. While Beetlejuice has been changed frequently, it originally opened way back in 1992, not even a full two years after the park first opened. Disaster may have only opened up in 2008, but Earthquake, the ride that it replaced without changing the actual ride experience, was one of the parks original attractions.

What do you think? Are you excited for the new Fast & Furious attraction?
