Last weekend, Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" became the 31st song to win the top prize at MTV's Video Music Awards. Although the annual celeb filled competition might have only grabbed the headlines relatively recently (thanks to some Kanye West arrogance and garden-variety Miley Cyrus debauchery) it has in fact been gracing our screens since as far back as 1984.

With that in mind, let's take a musical trip down memory lane and revisit all the winners of MTV's Music Video of the Year award. As well as providing you with some pretty good listening, it's also interesting to chart the change in musical taste throughout the eighties, nineties and noughties.
