If there ever was a man in Hollywood capable of delivering a thunderous yet gentle performance, it's the hulking beast with a gooey center, Vin Diesel. His portrayal of the conflicted robot in The Iron Giant still remains one of his standout performances - I defy you to hold back the tears during this incredibly emotional climactic scene!
Prepare your tear ducts for another flooding, because it looks like Vin could finally be heading back to the recording studio in order to lend his voice for a long-awaited sequel.
The Fast & Furious star teased an upcoming follow up to the animated classic on Facebook, posting the trailer for The Iron Giant: Signature Edition - a remaster of the 1999 original - with a not so subtle message.
"Don't be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel"
That sounds like a confirmation to me!
Fans of the first movie will remember its enigmatic ending, which showed the destroyed giant's dismembered mechanical components seeking to reunite with each other.
However, it's still unclear what The Iron Giant 2's plot will be. The first movie was based on Ted Hughes' Cold War fable of the same name, though Hughes never wrote a sequel. But with a brand new original script and Vin back in the hot seat, there's plenty to get excited about.
In the meantime, The Iron Giant: Signature Edition will hit theaters on Wednesday, September 30.
