His career has spanned Broadway, to the small and silver screens. He's Jesse L. Martin, and currently Detective Joe West confidant and adoptive father to Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash on the CW series of the same name.

As mentor and second dad to Grant Gustin's super speed hero, he gives a grounding to the loose family of characters on the series as well as to the titular hero. In the series story-line, after Barry Allen's father is framed for the murder of his mother, Joe West, one of the investigating officers, takes him in. Although unconvinced of Henry Allen's (John Wesley Shipp)innocence, he eventually comes to believe, as well as becomes Barry's go to police connection as metahumans begin to spring up as enemies and allies the heroes hometown of Central City.

The Flash is not Mr. Martin's first touch with fantasy in hos career. Having done guest stints in The X-Files, A Christmas Carol movie, and the now defunct TV series, The Philanthropist. Prior to Joe West, his best known role was as Detective Edward "Ed" Green, in the NBC network's Law and Order franchise.

He also has an extended theatre career and appeared as Tom Collins in Rent from 1996-1998, and has experience as a Shakespearean actor as well.

Jesse L. Martin will be making his convention debut in Houston, TX, at the Houston FanFair September 19th & 20th, 2015.
