It seems like it's been awhile since anyone has talked about the upcoming film [X-Men: Apocalypse](tag:1194267). After several set photo releases, and reveals of concept art, different fan theories have bubbled to the surface. One in particular was circulating for quite some time, concerning a piece of concept art that surfaced during the film's production.

In the image above, we can see Cyclops firing a blast at what seems to be an airborne Storm. In the lower right corner of the image, we can also see Jean Grey taking refuge underneath some of the wreckage. The theory surrounding this photo states that Storm and Cyclops engage in battle while under the control of the film's main antagonist, Apocalypse. Even though that's highly likely, I believe there to be another possibility.

In 1989's The Uncanny X-Men #201 Storm and Cyclops duel in order to determine the new leader of the young and talented X-Men. Instead of taking the fight to the streets, the danger room is turned into a destroyed city. Wolverine even invites everyone else, and encourages them to place bets! That definitely sounds like Wolvie. In the film, our favorite mutants will be young and before their prime, just like in the aforementioned comic book. Also, we already know that Storm is going to be one of Apocalypse's horsemen. Is it because she's already on the edge of corruption like her friends Magneto and Psylocke, making it easier for them to succumb to the will of Apocalypse? Could Storm and Cyclops participate in a duel that would deem the victor leader of the team? If so, what's Jean doing in the wreckage? Could the two fight over leadership while under Apocalypse's control, actually destroying a city? We'll have to wait and see!
