It's not uncommon for people to get mad about Miley Cyrus' outfits. A vocal advocate for Free The Nipple, some people just get grumpy about her wacky and revealing clothing.
However, after Miley's performance of her new song 'Dooo It!' at the VMAs last Sunday, a whole new ruckus broke out over the outfits on display.
Here's Miley in the Aaahh! Real Monsters! tribute costumes with some of the finest drag queens on the face of this planet:
So, what was the problem? Surely Miley Cyrus and a bunch of fierce queens (from left to right, LaGanja Estranja, Shangela and Alyssa Edwards, to be precise) strutting their stuff in bedazzling garb is a cause for celebration?
One Australian clothing line disagrees. Discount Universe claim that Miley's gear is an utter rip-off of their original ideas Check out the pics of DU's clothes below and see what you think...
Sure, there are some similar themes, but the outfits are not identical. Miley even wore a legit DU outfit in a 2014 performance in Sydney, so she's obviously a fan of their funky fashion.
Miley's designer Brad Callaghan disputed DU's claim of idea stealing, citing '70s David Bowie as an influence:
Miley’s people reached out to me—all I did was design the clothes. They even assigned the looks to the queens—although some of the looks are very fitting to their personalities.
All looks are custom. They are split into three sets: The first set is all hand airbrushed and rhinestoned, the second set is all patchwork vinyl, and the third set are 3-D foam-lined pieces. It took a team of three sewers, three assistants, my airbrush guy, and my boyfriend three weeks to complete the garments and then another week of fittings and alterations in LA.
Can't we all just get along? What do you think?
