In an attempt to tackle illegal downloading, Game of Thrones has earned a rightful place in the Guinness World Records for Largest TV Drama Simulcast.

Episode two of the hit HBO Fantasy series titled 'The House of Black and White' was broadcast simultaneously across a whopping 173 countries! This was to thwart illegal downloads and helped beat the record set by CSI 5 weeks prior to the episodes release by only 2 countries!

This contrasts the show's previous world record of 'World's most pirated show' which it has held since 2012.

Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark, accepted the award on behalf of the show.

“I'm so pleased for Game of Thrones to be a part of Guinness World Records, I'm going to tell my step brother as he gets the book every year for Christmas. I can't wait to see the look on his face!”

Williams attempted to break a world record herself this summer, planning to jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet for Mencap. However, according to William's twitter page "good old British weather" ruined her attempt.
