After four seasons, The O.C. sadly finished back in 2007. But despite the series ending, it's more than fair to say that the show put a big stamp on mid-2000s pop culture.
Obviously, others were as saddened by The O.C.'s cancellation as I was, and last Sunday, a one-time showing of The Unauthorized O.C. Musical premiered to a sold-out audience at Montalban Theater in Hollywood! That's right Hollywood, Luke Ward said it best:
Naturally, given such a momentous occasion, it was the perfect event for the original O.C. gang to have a reunion! Firstly, Autumn Reeser (Taylor Townsend) and Rachel Bilson (Summer Roberts) arrived alongside co-executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Later, Reeser actually performed in the musical, playing the role of Julie Cooper!
Next up, Melinda Clarke a.k.a. Julie Cooper was spotted on the red carpet.
And finally, so was Kirsten Cohen herself, Kelly Rowan.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to have been an appearance by Adam Brody (Seth), Ben McKenzie (Ryan), Mischa Barton (Marissa) or the eyebrow master himself Peter Gallagher (Sandy), but hey, we're not complaining with our mini-reunion!
For all of those intrigued by what exactly The Unauthorized O.C. Musical was all about, check out some of the snippets of iconic O.C. scenes that were included in the stage show:
That brilliant theme tune
The Summer and Seth Spider-Man scene
Marissa shooting trey
Hallelujah being sung after Marissa's death
Ahh, I am so gutted this was a one-time musical, bring it to Broadway I say! Are you with me?!
