Awkward family movies are easy to come across as movies that make people cry and motivational movies. There are a number of options I can go with here, but, as always, there is one movie in particular that I find to be awkward. It is one movie that I sat through with both my parents and my two younger siblings. We ordered it On Demand thinking it would be inspirational, moving, and just a great movie.
We were wrong.
The movie I'm talking about, is Flight with Denzel Washington.
This movie had a good idea to it, but it truly was awful. And the worst part was that it started off awkward. We all had hunkered down on the couch, all five of us, eyes glued to the screen ready to see some awesome upside down plane action. Instead, within the first ten seconds, we saw a bare breast. It didn't get much better from there.
We all felt considerably uncomfortable when Washington's character was hooking up with Nadine Velazquez's character, who is 24 years younger than him. The first time they went at it, I needed to leave the room, so I went upstairs and got a bowl of popcorn.
And the hardest, most awkward part, was all the drugs. Which wouldn't be all that awkward, if it weren't for my parents. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents to death, but the did not like the fact that Denzel Washington and John Goodman were doing a line, or smoking, or drinking just about every time they were on set together. I'm not sure why I could overlook that when they couldn't, but it happened.
Granted, we did get to see the awesome upside down plane action, but it wasn't enough to make up for the awkward the preceded it.
If you enjoyed the movie, good for you. I know I can never watch again (even being an aviation major) without flashing back to the awkward that filled the air whilst watching it the first time around with my parental units and siblings.
That's all for today, tune in tomorrow to find out what movie I can watch over and over again.
