As this movie approaches, it is starting to sink in that we are actually receiving another Star Wars film. The one we've been waiting for since the sixth one came out! Holy flip I am freaking out, and I just wanted to share five reasons that will make this movie amazing.
5. J. J. Abrams at the helm! (Directing)
The man behind Alias, Lost, both Star Trek films, Super 8 and Fringe. Each of these shows teeming with fan and critical acclaim, there's no arguing his success. The only downfall of his in my eyes, are those lens flares that are his signature, especially in Star Trek, I mean come on! Those got ridiculous! So far in the trailers I haven't noticed any, so I think we will be safe!
Hopefully we don't get this many lens flares! LOL
4. More Diversity!
If it bothered you that the only human contribution to the galaxy basically consisted of white males, (in the original trilogy) than you should be pleased to see a diversified cast. A female lead, a black lead and a Hispanic lead will show us that there are more heroes ready to fight evil!
3. The Unknown
At the time I am writing this article, there are only 3 months and 16 days until the (American) theatrical release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Usually by now, a movie would have at least two official trailers, and a whole bunch of TV spots. That's not to say more won't come, but Disney has done a great job of keeping this project under wraps so far, which will hopefully mean a huge pay-off when we finally get to see it all revealed in December! I may be eating my words on this one in a few months if Disney releases a crap ton of more trailers, but if they continue the pattern they are on, we are in for surprises!!!
2. John Williams is Scoring this Film!!!
What else can I say? He scored all of the previous six films, and by golly without him it just wouldn't feel like Star Wars. Even if you hated the prequels, (I personally love them, despite their many faults...) you have to admit John still hit it out of the park with Duel of the Fates and Battle of the Heroes. Plus he re-worked all of the magic from the original trilogy back into those films. Seriously, who doesn't want more Star Wars music from John? Not to mention hearing all of the classic Star Wars music weaved into this new film.
1. The Old Cast is Together Again!
I mean come on! What Star Wars fan hasn't been dreaming of this day to come?! Han Solo, Leia Solo, and Luke Skywalker back on the silver screen?! I think yes! It's been 32 years! I'm not even that old, I never got the privilege of seeing them on the big screen, and boy am I excited to! Seriously folks, this is history in the making, and we can all be a part of it. Also i'm guessing this movie will break ALL box office records, but who knows, we will see.
Also, please let Boba Fett be in this movie! Or at least a reference...
