Sci-fi horror thriller The Maze Runner scored monumental box office success last year when it became the "biggest-grossing live-action hit ever to open in September," and brought in a tidy sum, grossing almost ten times its $35 million budget worldwide. Can the sequel, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, achieve the same?

The adaptation of James Dashner’s novels of the same name is an American dystopian science fiction production starring Dylan O'Brien, Aml Ameen, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Cooper and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The story follows O'Brien as Thomas, who, when awakens in an elevator with his memory wiped, finds that he has been dumped in a community of boys in a place called the Glade and the only way out is to discover a path through the ever-changing labyrinth surrounding them.

The Maze Runner grossed a grand total of $340m worldwide and Fox is now hoping that Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials takings build on its predecessor's success.

In Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the Gladers must face a brand new set of challenges on "the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles."
