In case you thought J Bieb's crying episode during the VMAs was fake, guess again. He was really, really feeling incredibly overwhelmed.
Bieber described his intense emotions to Jimmy Fallon while on The Tonight Show:
"And everyone — the support — I honestly wasn't expecting them to support me in the way they did. Last time I was at an awards show I was booed. I've worked so hard at this album, I've worked so hard at becoming the man I want to become. Then, standing in the situation, you just can't help but feel judged, so I was just feeling judged and wanting to win so badly, and wanting to do what I love so badly, that I just put everything on the line."

Bieber also discusses his wild teen antics and how he has transformed into the man he is today.:
"I just had a bunch of knuckleheads around me. That was pretty much it. You have to figure out what you are okay with and what you're not okay with, but you have to test the waters. I just happen to be in front of a spotlight and they caught all those moments."
Fallon brought up an excellent point that what really counts is how you get up when you fall down. How you correct your mistakes, how you change for the better.
This new and improved Justin Bieber appears to be more grateful, focused, and positive. Much like us all, Bieber might have experienced a bratty teenaged phase, but he has moved onto being a real artist and kind human being.
And that's something I think we can all get behind.
