If you've been following Taylor Swift's 1989 tour, then you'll know that the singer holds nothing back when it comes to bringing familiar faces up on stage with her as surprise guests.

From John Legend to to freakin' Lisa Kudrow singing the "Smelly Cat" song, the long list of celebrity friends and contacts Taylor Swift has accrued in her time as a pop sensation is pretty astounding.

But it looks like some friendships - or more likely, onstage appearances - just aren't meant to be. It would appear that Taylor Swift was looking to merge her super squad with the ultimate squad goals duo: Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.

While it appears that Sir Patrick Stewart is all kinds of on board to be a part of T-Swift's gang (from his numerous tweets to the star), Sir Ian McKellen is much more reluctant and reportedly turned down her invitation to appear on her tour.

When asked by how it felt to be a part of her squad, McKellen definitely answered:

I’m not. When I was living in Peter Jackson’s apartment in New York, Taylor Swift bought it while I was there and I was thrown out before I wanted to leave! That hardly puts me in Taylor Swift’s team, does it?

He went on to say that it was all fair in love and real estate on her behalf, but he was still booked up the night she wanted him to make an appearance:

[Laughs] She bought it, she had every right to – I was just lodging there for free! She did ask me to appear with Patrick Stewart at her show in LA, but I had something else to do that night.

Oh well! Taylor Swift's friend group is already so awesome I doubt one denied friend request isn't a huge deal. Probably best she just shake it off!
