Despite Hayley Atwell's implications that her Agent Peggy Carter and Steve "Captain America" Rogers have totally danced the horizontal shuffle before, it seems as though Chris Evans' interpretation of Captain America -- who he insists is a virgin -- is a little bit more of a loner than we thought he was.

In a recent interview, Evans talked about love (he was promoting his new film, a romantic comedy called Before We Go) and the fact that poor ol' Cap has apparently never experienced it. He told USA Today:

Captain America, this is not a guy who knows what love feels like... He wants it, he thinks about it, he knows there’s something missing, but it’s not that he’s ever tasted it.

While true romantic love may never have been achieved between Cap and Peggy (who is moving on from the star-spangled hero as she travels to LA in season two of [Marvel's Agent Carter](tag:1119765)), the Captain isn't all that lonely.

He's got one heck of a support net when it comes to Sam Wilson who has fought at his side as The Falcon countless times; a supportive and understanding (if a little tense and untrusting) friendship with Black Widow; and the memory of a brotherhood with Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier, who Cap is desperately trying to save. Along with his new team of Avengers, Cap has plenty of platonic love in his life, but no defined romantic partner -- not yet, at least.

[Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
