Characters are about to wax lyrical down in Bikini Bottom as the musical supergroup who'll help bring SpongeBob Squarepants's underwater world to life has just been announced!
The insanely popular Nickelodeon series is going to be hitting broadway next year with a brand new, fun filled musical for all the family, and it's bringing an insane musical supergroup along with it. David Bowie, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Dirty Projectors, The Flaming Lips, John Legend and Cyndi Lauper are just some of the names confirmed to help bring the story to life.
Tina Landau of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater, whose Broadway work to date includes “Superior Donuts” and “Bells Are Ringing," is writing and directing the production and will be joined by book writer Kyle Jarrow and Pulitzer winning composer, Tom Kitt.
Aiming to kick off the show with a premiere in Chicago next June, SpongeBob Squarepants The Musical will then move onto Broadway during the 2016-2017 season.
I think this has the potential to be brilliant! What do you think?
