These days, it feels like you can't go a day without hearing about Miley Cyrus and her latest rabble-rousing. News of the pop provocatrix was inescapable after the VMAs, where Nicki Minaj famously dissed her onstage.

Undeterred, Miley still found time between hosting and performing duties to get to know Instagrammy Baddie Winkle, the 87-year-old social media sensation and great-grandmother who's taking the world by storm. Miley spent some time with the age-defying free spirit backstage, and despite the generational gaps, it's clear that these two share a special connection.

They're clearly two peas in a pod

Baddie Winkle has a penchant for bright colors (like Miley), defying people's expectations (like Miley), and smoking weed (of course, like Miley). Born Helen Ruth Van Winkle, Baddie Winkle has over 1.5 million followers on Instagram including Miley, Nicole Richie, and Rihanna, and she shows no signs of slowing down.

Baddie's uninhibited attitude and youthful spirit has allowed her to rub shoulders with some of these famous followers, but life wasn't always this good for her.

The persona Baddie Winkle came out of personal tragedy

Talk about finding the silver lining in everything. After Baddie's husband died on their 35th wedding anniversary, her style reinvention allowed her to create her own life separate from a partnership. She opened up to Refinery29 about how this memorable persona has helped her reconnect with her sense of self:

Baddie Winkle has helped me a lot — in spirit, anyway. The lessons that I have learned is live and let live. I would love to be a role model for older people. You're only here once in your lifetime, so have fun.

Based on this statement alone, it's clear that she and Miley share a similar philosophy when it comes to enjoying life, so it's no wonder these two always look like they're having so much fun!

The lifelong rebel says she's "been stealing your man since 1928"

And I have absolutely no doubts about that being true.

You certainly haven't seen the end of Baddie, either. She's got big plans for the rest of 2015, and that includes much more publicity:

[My goals are] to continue to decide to be happy, eat more chocolate, try more new things and do a cool reality series on how to be a Baddie.

That all sounds more than good to us, Baddie!
