After taking the world by storm and breaking records along the way, Fifty Shades of Grey is gearing up for the release of the sequel Fifty Shades Darker. While promoting her new movies Black Mass and A Bigger Splash at the Venice Film Festival, star of the franchise, Dakota Johnson, talked to Empire about how working with a new director has been.
Although the director of the first film, Sam Taylor-Johnson, decided not to reclaim the helm of the Fifty Shades ship, Johnson is ready to dive back into the Red Room of Pain by working with director James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross, Fear). Johnson told Empire that after the initial fear of working with a new director, she's now looking forward to the franchise taking a new spin:
It’s quite exciting. There was a moment of being afraid, because I didn’t know what it was going to be like. I had an experience with Sam [Taylor-Johnson] and then that all went away. Now I’m excited. I think James is a talented filmmaker. How often do you get to reconvene with the same people and have a different spin?
Now fans of the films are wondering where Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele's relationship left off. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out!
Johnson's latest movie, Black Mass, will hit theaters starting November 27. And Fifty Shades Darker is aiming for a February 10th release for next year.
