Through the magic of editing and split screen, actors like Nina Dobrev, Paul Weasley, Armie Hammer, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rachel Weisz have had the opportunity to flex their acting muscles and play more than one character in film and TV - now Tom Hardy joins that list as he plays two of Britain's most notorious gangster brothers Ronald and Reginald Kray.

The film tells the story of the identical twin gangsters Reggie and Ronnie Kray, two of the most notorious criminals in British history, and their organised crime empire in the East End of London during the 1960s.

I have only seen The Krays (1990) film and that focused more on the relationship between Violet Kray (Billie Whitelaw) and her twin sons played by Martin and Gary Kemp. Billie Whitelaw was flawless in her performance as the gangster mother, giving strong performances alongside the Kemp Brothers - It was certainly a film that resolved around the family against the background of the gang lifestyle of London.

From the looks of it, this film will centre more on Reggie Kray and the three defining elements of his life - his relationship with his first wife Frances Shea (played by Emily Browning), his relationship with his impulsive brother Ronnie (also played by Hardy) and the gangster lifestyle he was so well-known for. This is the third time that the Kray Twins have been portrayed in film, but this is the first time one actor has played both these roles. Alongside Hardy and Browning, Paul Bettany, Colin Morgan, David Thewlis, Tara Fitzgerald, and Taron Egerton star in the supporting roles from this film.
