When it comes to multiplayer games, there are various features that can help guarantee longevity and community support. Star Wars: Battlefront promises to be a huge success for Star Wars fans on XBOX One, PS4 and PC. From what I've played so far, Star Wars: Battlefront has its faults. However, this is bound to be one of the most profitable Video Games in 2015. But if EA and DICE want this game to enjoy the kind of support this franchise has enjoyed for years, a few things need to change.
It can be difficult for gamers to impact on the development of a game. We have few ways of influencing decisions, though developers have recently taken to including fan desires from the outset of development. However, Star Wars Battlefront is mere months away from its release date so there are few options left for us.
Some may doubt the power of petitions, but due to fans voicing their opinions, we've seen new gameplay features and community support added to so many titles, even Tom Clancy's the Division was brought to PC thanks to fans requesting that Ubisoft do so. Therefore, this new petition to bring in a server browser for Star Wars: Battlefront could see DICE add a feature that could help establish a long-lasting community for their new shooter.
A Server Browser Petition for Star Wars: Battlefront!
You can check out the link for the petition here! It was created by Perri Mitchell, who claims that "Having a server browser is very important for a multiplayer FPS." Perri is asking for community servers, custom settings, playing with groups of friends, ping, player count, 24/7 servers and more. PC players are obviously the most likely community to benefit from such an addition, but everyone who wants Star Wars Battlefront to be something they can enjoy for a while should get behind the vote.
So far the petition has amassed over 1,500 votes with an additional 1,000 needed. If the number is hit, we can hopefully impact on the decisions being made in the offices of EA and DICE. It may seem like an inconsequential addition for certain gamers, but know that a lot of multiplayer gamers and FPS fans consider this to be a vital aspect for Star Wars: Battlefront's success and the success of numerous other multiplayer first-person and third-person shooters.
"In my opinion, a server browser is vital in maintaining a long last community within a game. Without a server browser this game will be dead in the water a year later. So if you're looking to play this game for the long haul, it could feel like life or death, not having a server browser. Maybe that makes it the most important thing to some [...] some of us can agree with the sentiment."
So where do you stand on the inclusion of a server browser for [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021)? Do you consider this to be a vital aspect for the game's success? Is there anything else that you'd love to see DICE and EA include for the game's release date? If so, be sure to let us know in the comments, and whether you signed the petition!
