The recent Black Ops 3 beta has concluded for XBOX One, PS4 and PC, with thousands of players revealing their insights on Activision's latest Call Of Duty. While there have been certain negative comments about the beta, the community that had the opportunity to engage with it has been overwhelmingly positive! So what does Black Ops 3 mean for the future of the franchise?
Personally, I was surprised by Activision's move with this latest instalment. Following Advanced Warfare's progression into the future of warfare, I was expecting to see Black Ops 3 take things in a different direction. However, it appears that the FPS genre is obsessed with the future, mechs and flying about at the moment. I think Black Ops 3 looks like Advanced Warfare 2, and it's a pity that there isn't more variety.
However, with that being said, Black Ops 3 was a surprisingly enjoyable experience to engage with for the short time I had with its beta on PS4. I don't play multiplayer when it comes to Call of Duty, but with Black Ops 3, with its slick traversal options, satisfying weapons, various modes, and great kill perks, I can see myself spending a few hours in the turmoil of online.
Has the Black Ops 3 Beta Given Hope for the Future of Call of Duty?
In my opinion, Call of Duty has seriously decreased in quality over the last few years. We still have great gun mechanics, but Modern Warfare 3, Ghosts and Advanced Warfare were poor instalments into an otherwise decent franchise. While I don't like the look of Black Ops 3's fast-paced Deus Ex style world, the beta has convinced me that this title will be a great deal of fun on every platform on its release date!
The Call of Duty franchise is something that is almost too easy to make fun of in the gaming community. It's often used as as a point of ridicule, but I've always enjoyed blasting my way through these games, even if more recent instalments have been serious disappointments. But what direction does Call of Duty need to take? Personally, I think they need something more radical than what Black Ops 3 will give us, even if its beta was a lot of fun! The FPS genre is already over-saturated, so making it more boring isn't helping anyone. Where do you want to the future of Call of Duty to take us? Should we see more old warfare? Are you enjoying our fling with the future?

Here are just a few points about the Black Ops 3 beta that I really enjoyed:
- The general pace of the game is so fast, even respawning is instantaneous if you want it to be!
- Traversal, with ground slides, wall runs, and booster-powered jumping was excellent for making you a tough target to hit.
- All of the new kill perks were so satisfying to gain and use!
- The introduction of characters and their abilities makes things so much more interesting. And the amount of players playing as women was so great to see!
