Potterheads of Toronto, Canada, I envy you. If there is one thing I can say greatly influenced my childhood, I would have to say it's Harry Potter. I can also say one thing that has greatly influenced my adulthood (or at least my college years), is definitely and sometimes unfortunately, alcohol.
Well, someone in Toronto, Canada must have been drinking some serious Felix Felicis, because those worlds are colliding with an awesome Harry Potter themed cocktail and tapas bar that just opened in the area!
While to the untrained, non-HP loving eye this might just look like a hip spot to sip on some drinks and eat some fun gastropub food, those in the know will be able to note the magical touches of the Wizarding World.
The name of the bar, an ode to the world's most narcissistic Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, is just one of the many subtle nods towards the work of J.K. Rowling. Their drink menu also include some familiar names, including the Shacklebolt, of course named after the Minister for Magic, Kingsey Shacklebolt.
Since they've just opened, it sounds as if they're still working on their list of potions and elixirs, but their menu contains other magical sounding drinks like the "Befuddlement Brew" and "Ludo's Debt," whose namesake refers to the gambling Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, Ludo Bagman.
A neon sign reading "All was well" adorns the wall and lets its patrons know that they're amongst Harry Potter-loving friends.
For those of you who live close enough to this bar to take advantage, or those few who are willing to make the pilgrimage, have a Butterbeer or Firewhisky for those of us who can't. Cheers!
