Our little...realization, was interrupted by Sarah Jane.
"Katherine! It's been ages!" I nodded, hugging her. "Oh, and I don't think we need the TARDIS. I've got something to show you two." She took hold of our arms and led us to her car. She opened the trunk and we lifted the blanket off of an object.
"K-9!" We exclaimed at the same time.
"Rose Tyler, Mickey Smith, allow me to introduce K-9-"
"Well, K-9 Mark Three. To be precise." I told him.
"My gosh, how I've missed you." He said, looking at me.
"Yeah, me too."
"Why does he look so...disco?" Rose asked.
"Oi! In the year five thousand, This was cutting edge. What's happened to him."
"One day, he just...nothing." Sarah Jane said.
"You didn't send for repairs?"
"It's not like the parts were for a mini metro. And Besides, the technology inside him could rewrite human science." She explained.
"Ooh, what's that nasty lady done to you?" The doctor asked in baby talk. I laughed.
We sat in a cafe, the doctor and I fixing K-9 and The others across the room.
"I've been looking for you. I just...never really had much luck. You're never in one place for long." I told him.
"I've looked for you. I was looking for you, when I ran into a little problem with the Nestene Consciousness. That's how I met Rose and Mickey." He said.
"I knew it had to be them. The-"
"Mannequins?" He finished for me.
"Yes!" I exclaimed. He laughed.
"I had a different form then." He said.
"Is this recent?" I asked, gesturing towards his face.
"Yeah, sort of."
"I like it." He smiled.
"So what about you, is this regeneration a new one?"
"Not really. I've had for a while. I've only changed twice since we were separated."
"So, how are things? Have you got a boyfriend or..."
"No. No relationship. Not really many friendships either. I move around a lot." There was a buzz.
"Ok, now were in business!" He said. We got up and stood in front of him.
"He recognizes me." The two of us said in unison.
"Rose, could we have the oil please?" I asked. It was weird, considering I didn't know her. She handed it to me.
"I'd be careful touching that. That dinner lady got all scorched."
"I'm no dinner lady. and I don't say that often." The doctor scooped some of the oil onto his finger and gave it to K-9.
"Come on boy." I whispered.
"Oil, Ex-ex-extract. Ana-ana-analyzing.
"Listen to him, man, that's a voice." Mickey laughed.
"Careful, that's my dog."Warned Sarah Jane.
"Confirmation of analysis. Krillitane Oil."
"They're Krillitanes." The doctor said.
"Is that bad?"
"Very. Think how bad things could possibly be and add another suitcase full of bad." He explained.
"And what are Krillitanes?"
"They are a composite race. Kind of like your culture is a bunch of traditions from different countries, They are the same. They pick up after the races they have acquired, and have extensive knowledge." I told them.
"What are they doing here?" Rose asked.
"It's the children. They're doing something to the children." The realization made the Doctor and I shiver.
"How many of us have there been traveling with you?" I asked The Doctor, as we left.
"Does it matter?" He asked.
"It does if I'm the Latest in a long line."
"As opposed to what?" The look he gave me made me freeze.
"I've been to the year Five billion, yeah. But this is really seeing the future. You just leave us behind. You did it to Sarah Jane, and I'll bet you did it to Katherine, too. A Time Lord, like you. Someone you love, and you left her." he shook his head.
"I did what I had to do." He said, hotly. He turned and walked away.
I looked up and saw a Krillitane, flying towards the doctor and Rose. I ran over and made them duck.
"It didn't even touch her." Rose said.
When we got to school the next morning, the Doctor was ready to fight this.
"Rose and Sarah, go to the maths room and crack open a computer, we need to see the hardware that's inside. Here you might need this. Mickey, surveillance. I want you outside." He instructed.
"Just stand outside?" He asked.
"Here, take these. You can keep K-9 company."
"Don't forget to leave the window open a crack." The Doctor threw in.
"But He's metal!"
"He didn't mean for him." I explained.
"What are you two going to do?"
"It's time we had a word with Mr. Finch."
We walked into the pool room, where Mr. Finch was waiting for us.
"Who are you?" The Doctor asked.
"My name is brother Lassar. And you?"
"The Doctor, and Katherine."
"Since when did Krillitanes have wings?" I asked.
"It's been our form for nearly ten generations now. Our ancestors invaded Bessan. The people there had some lovely wings. They made a million windows in a day. Just imagine."
"And now you shaped Human?" The Doctor asked.
"A personal Favourite. That's all."
"And the others?"
"My brothers remain bat form. What you see is-"
"A simple Morphic Illusion?" I cut him off.
"Yes, quite right. Scratch the surface and the true Krillitane lies beneath. And what of the Time Lords? I always though of you as such a pompous race. Ancient, Dusty Senators. So afraid of change and chaos. But they're all extinct. Only you two left."
"This plan of yours, what is it?"
"You don't know?"
"That's why he's asking."
"Well, your clever. Figure it out."
"If we don't like it, it will stop." I threatened.
"Interesting. Your people were so peaceful, to the point of indolence. You seem to be something new."
"I'm so old now. I have just a bit of mercy left. You get one warning. After that...I'd really hate to be you."
"Oh, but the next time we meet, you will join us." I just grabbed the Doctor's arm and dragged him out of the room.
"Wow." I turned to him.
"It's just...you've changed so much."
"For the better, or worse?" I asked.
"I don't know. I haven't decided yet."
