Still no official word on if Enchantress will end up being the antagonist in the now HIGHLY anticipated Suicide Squad movie. But I'm sticking with my theory that I made in Suicide Squad: Cara Delevingne - Enchantress is the Antagonist?! Part I based on precedence in the actual Suicide Squad comic that June Moone (which is the human side of Enchantress) lost control of her sorceress side and become the main focus of the Squad during a mission. Later I made an observation in Suicide Squad: Is Cara Delevingne's Enchantress the Antagonist?! Part II pointing out the fact that Enchantress was never pictured with members of the Suicide Squad in the Comic Con released Suicide Squad trailer. Well now we have another reason to believe that Cara Delevingne will be the main antagonist thanks to the folks over at Empire Magazine.
Why did Enchantress get an Empire Cover?
Empire magazine recently released four covers for their Suicide Squad edition magazine due to release in December. The four characters used for covers where Deadshot played by Will Smith, Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie, the Joker played by Jared Leto and of course the Enchantress played by Cara. Joker and Harley are extremely popular characters so them getting covers makes sense for Warner Bros to market their movie. Deadshot is not that well known of a character; however, with Will Smith being the only actor in the movie that is a household name it makes sense that Warner Bros would want to capitalize on his popularity. Which leaves Cara's character Enchantress.
Enchantress Empire Cover
Enchantress is a pretty well known character among comic book geeks. Specifically the geeks of the Suicide Squad comics and the Justice League Dark comics.
Enchantress played a couple of very defining roles in those comics. However, the general public has no idea who this character is; and Cara Delevingne while very popular as a model and in fashion has no mainstream appeal to general public. There is little benefit to Warner Bros insisting on Enchantress getting a cover. Unless of course she is the main antagonist.
I think the inclusion of Enchantress as a cover could be confirmation of Enchantress as the main antagonist. Obviously, Joker, Harley and Will Smith as Deadshot are going to have very important roles in movie. Warner Bros just gave us our first clue that Enchantress's role is just as important. Cara shared her thoughts with Empire on the character or should I say characters that she will be playing.
"She's an ancient sorceress," said the model-turned-actress of her Enchantress role. "A feral being. She's been trapped for so long and now she's finally let out." She begins the film as June Moone, a mousey kind of scientist that becomes the human host of Enchantress during her exploration of a creepy cave. "June is an adventure-seeker who's always wanted some excitement. And she gets what she wished for, in an terrible way."
The New 52 Ancient Sorceress Enchantress
I think her comments just adds fuel to the fire of an unstable and powerful Enchantress that is a worthy antagonist to bring the Suicide Squad together. But that is what I think. I'm very interested to see how you feel. Does the Enchantress Empire cover confirm her as the main antagonist in the movie? If not then who is the main villain? Please share your thoughts below. Stay tune for the official confirmation from Warner Bros. Until then check out Cara as June Moone adventure seeking and later a look at her as Enchantress in the San Diego Comic Con teaser trailer.
