Oliver Queen has dealt with his fair share of villains over the course of Arrow's three seasons, but season four will introduce a new type of villain for the Emerald Archer.
Arrow's fourth season will formally introduce Damien Darhk, leader of the villainous organization, H.I.V.E. Darhk was previously mentioned by Ra's al Ghul as a contender for the title of Ra's al Ghul. When Darhk was not chosen to lead the league, he took waters from the Lazarus Pit, and left with a hive of followers. Since then, he has avoided Ra's at all costs.
Now that the major players are off the table, it seems that Darhk will finally step out from the shadows, and make his presence known. His meddling in Star City will force Oliver out of retirement, but will Oliver have a chance at defeating his newest foe?
During a promotional trailer for the show's fourth season, Darhk is shown stopping an arrow in midair without touching it. Traditionally, in the comics, Damien Darhk has been portrayed as an individual who often used technology to his advantage to further his agenda. The fact that Darhk is able to stop arrows with what can possibly be telekinetic powers, raises quite a few questions.
How is he doing this?
It has been said by producers that magic and mysticism will play a role in the upcoming season. Since Darhk has access to waters of the Lazarus Pit, he could have essentially searched the world for other sources of mystical energy. While there isn't necessarily a pit that grants telekinetic powers, there are objects in the DC universe that grants its wielder immense power.
Of course, with the introduction of the Mr. Terrific on Arrow this season, technology will take part of the spotlight this season. So it's entirely possible that Darhk's power comes from some sort of technology. On Darhk's left hand, he is shown wearing a ring on his wedding finger. Could this ring somehow have some sort of force field capabilities?
Is Damien Darhk a Meta-human?
Meta-humans seems to be the new normal on the Flarrowverse, so it is also entirely possible that Darhk could be a meta-human. It was discovered on Arrow that you don't have to be exposed to unknown energies to have superhuman abilities. Deathbolt is clearly a meta-human, but he wasn't anywhere near the particle accelerator explosion in central city. If there are other ways to turn into a meta-human, whose to say that Darhk hasn't figured out a way to give himself superhuman abilities?
Arrow season 4 will premiere October 7, 2015 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
