It’s now September and we know what the means… the new TV season is upon us!
These are just a series of articles about my most anticipated shows, new and old, of the 2015-16 TV season. All opinions are my own.
Starring Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan and Calista Flockhart.
Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
I’m a teetering fan of Superman, the thing I dislike most about him, and all the Supers, is the idea that you can’t tell Clark Kent from Superman just because he puts on a pair of glasses.
What will get me watching is that it has some of the people from the DCTV Universe behind the scenes.
I am very interested to see how CBS will handle a superhero show as apposed to their regular reality or procedural shows.
I know it’s only the pilot and I’ve only seen the trailer and first look, but it seems like she’s revealing her identity a lot but that seems to be a common occurrence in the DCTV Universe.
At the moment, and mainly due to not being too familiar with the previous works of most of the cast, I’m mostly excited about seeing Helen Slater, Dean Cain and Calista Flockhart, from what I’ve seen of her from the trailer – she very well might be my favorite in the show.
Now I know they want to stay away from having Superman on the show but I think there are points when he's going to need to be seen. Like when Kara comes out of her ship, decided when she is starting out as Supergirl and others. I think not having him appear will make me dislike the show, simply because it's unrealistic and just shows that they aren't allowed to have him on TV and have to make poor excuses for his absence.
Supergirl premiers on CBS on October 26th.
