Can you feel that? A disturbance in the force, there is. Star Wars Battlefront is very nearly upon us. Gamers and Star Wars fans alike are now counting down the days before they can get their hands on that rebel scum.

The game is now in it's Alpha testing phase, this basically means that the game is complete and almost ready to go. What is left, is the balancing and tweaking that can only come from actual impartial gameplay.

With just weeks to go until its release, Battlefront news has been a little scarce, but today, we get our first look at actual Alpha phase gameplay. The video itself comes straight out of a massive-scale, 20v20 battle on planet Hoth. Although it looks like a bit of a free-for-all, the game mode on display is what Dice call Walker Assault.

The explosive ten minute video takes us through a huge array of the game's weapons and selection menus, with plenty of classic Star Wars movie marksmanship (shooting from the hip).

The gameplay will take place in both new and iconic locations. Gameplay videos so far have taken us to the snowy Hoth (above), sandy Tatooine and gooey Sullust, a lava-spewing planet referenced in 1983's Return of the Jedi, as well as many Star Wars games and novels, but rarely ever seen.

Although not incorporating the 'iron sight' mechanic, the gameplay will, like Battlefield, have a class type system which will allow the player to snipe, blast or assault your way to the emperor, the choice is yours.

In addition to gunplay players, you will have certain survival capabilities, such as countering melee attacks, shooting with their sidearm whilst jet packing, deflect incoming projectiles with a light saber type ability, and even the use of a 'Force' type perk to sustain, maintain or regain health.

Battlefront will launch on November 17th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Plus, an open beta will be held on all platforms during the first week of October.

Don't forget that all you PS4 fans out there will be able to preorder a $450 Darth Vader-themed PlayStation 4 console.
