Despite being significantly powerless, we're all very aware, or should be by now, that Batman is one hell of a badass superhero. He transcends badass actually, he's just pure awesome. Hence why he's been on my top list of trump cards in the obligatory playground "who would win's".
A master detective and tactician, handy in a scuffle and has pretty good taste in vehicles, yeah, Batman is awesome. But since the break of the 00s, a new wild card has managed to slip into the deck of "fictional badasses that could wipe the floor with any fool", and this particular candidate, according to Matt Damon, would easily hold up in a battle with The Dark Knight: Jason Bourne.
E! caught up with Damon whilst promoting Ridley Scott's spacebound survive-em-up The Martian at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and was fairly bullish in making his choice:
Jason Bourne would kick the shit out of Batman—absolutely! Batman's gotta take on Superman first. If he could beat him then maybe he could take on Jason Bourne.
Alright, not pulling any punches there are we?! You may be thinking "well, Batman is a comic book character, Jason Bourne isn't. Why are they even asking him?" Well he just happens to be besties with Batman himself, Ben Affleck. So it's only natural that he'd be sprung with these obligatory questions.
The Bat V Bourne excitement has also been spurred on by the release of the first still from Bourne 5's inaugural day of filming, which sees Bourne readying himself for a serious bout of badassery:
The battle between Bourne and Batman would be an interesting one to play out, they're so very similar in fighting style, aggression and intelligence. And with the impending superhero match-ups readying themselves to blow our minds like BvS, Captain America: Civil War and the rumored X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover, this makes me want a battle between the two quite badly honestly!
Because, Bourne has had some of the most iconic brawls in 21st century action movies. Don't you think? Check out this fight from Ultimatum:
