To avoid fainting, keep repeating 'It's only a movie...It's only a movie...'

Well, Moviepilot gang, I'm not ashamed to say that you guys were right and I was wrong... I guess I just got a little overexcited.

A couple months ago X-Men: Apocalypse producer Simon Kinberg tweeted this cheeky pic of him with X-Men's James McAvoy (Young Xavier), Sophie Turner (young Jean Grey) and Taylor Swift (DAZZLER? Come on, you were all thinking it!)

I was so thrilled at the notion of glittering pop star Taylor Swift playing glittering pop star Dazzler in the '80s themed X-Men: Apocalypse that I may have leapt to the conclusion that Simon Kinberg was hinting about Taylor Swift appearing in the movie.

However, Kinberg recently crushed my Taylor Swift-flavored dreams by talking to MTV and denying her involvment with X-Men: Apocalypse:

No, there’s nothing to it. I know where [the rumor] came from, because it’s my fault. [We] went to the show, me and those people, and then she invited us to come back and meet her afterwards. It was just a photo backstage at the concert, and that was the only time we ever saw her. That’s where that particular rumor came from.

Depending on your feelings about Taylor Swift - or even Dazzler as a character - you will either have a sad or a happy face right now.

Still, it could have been a cool casting... Taylor's proved her action chops in her Bad Blood video and seeing her as pop star mutant Dazzler would have been a fun, campy twist...
