It's day two on this 5 Day Challenge, and it seems a little early in the week for confessions...but them's the rules!
Today, I'm talking about a show that I'm ashamed to admit to never watching. Everyone has one of these, simply because there are so many incredible series out there, and only so many hours in the day to spend watching them. In fact, I have several.
I didn't grow up in North America, so I missed out on Seinfeld (although for some reason, Friends made it across the pond). There are plenty of shows that aired in the early 00's as my time was spent either stuck in a book or drinking a beer, and then there are the recent offerings that just never made in into my watching rotation (Dexter comes to mind). Finally, there are the shows that I got part-way through and never managed to finish - Lost, Weeds, Heroes, and more.
However, out of all of these possibilities, there is really only one show that is still on the fringes of my "to-watch" list, and that I shy away from admitting to having missed out on.
Breaking Bad (2008 - 2013)
This award-winning black comedy is undoubtedly phenomenal, and I honestly have no reason for not having watched it. In fact, I've seen the odd episode here and there, but for some reason just never sat down to watch the whole thing.
Instead, I sat by, vaguely aware of the premise, as friends stepped out in Walter White Halloween costumes (complete with baggies of blue "meth" candy), raved about it, quoted it, and obsessed over it. It's become such a huge part of pop culture that I'll even admit to having used Jesse Pinkman's famous line...
I am honestly shamefaced about this ridiculous gap in my televisual knowledge, and all I can say is that I promise, I'll catch up someday.
